Line of Research: Socio-technological systems
Jose Araruna Jr. graduated in Civil Engineering at the Federal University of Ceará (UFC). He holds a Master’s degree in Civil Engineering from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio) and a PhD in Civil Engineering from Newcastle University (NCL), England. Currently, Araruna is a full-time professor at PUC-Rio, where he works in the areas of teaching and research. In teaching, he teaches disciplines in the Undergraduate Courses in Environmental Engineering and Civil Engineering and in the Graduate Program in Civil Engineering. Its research activities are basically related to environmental investigation, the disposal and reuse of solid waste and the remediation of areas contaminated by chemical substances. As a consultant, Prof. Araruna has carried out environmental impact assessments, investigations and environmental monitoring, recovery projects for degraded areas and area management plans contaminadas.
