Professor of the Professional Master’s Degree in Sustainability Science, Bernardo Strassburg, is on the list of the 20 most cited Brazilian scientists in the world in 2022, according to a survey prepared by the consultancy Clarivate Analytics.
The “Highly Cited Researchers 2022” survey gathers 6,938 researchers who “have demonstrated significant and broad influence reflected in the publication of several highly cited articles in the last decade”. According to the company, the scientists on the list represent 1 in every 1,000 researchers on the planet.
Strassburg, who, in 2021, was chosen one of the seven world experts to compose the UN’s scientific task force for the Decade of Ecosystem Restoration, has just participated in COP27, in Egypt. The professor believes that one of the highlights of the COP was the recognition of the synergies between the objectives of the Climate Convention and those of the Convention on Biodiversity (CBD). Research conducted by her group at the International Institute for Sustainability (IIS) has already identified enormous synergies between the goals of both, in a scenario where cutting-edge science is used to guide the planning and implementation of Nature-Based Solutions.
